The number of people leaving Asia from East of the of the Mediterranean is truly staggering. Their immediate needs are transportation, shelter and food. Longer term needs will vary from finding a way home, to building a new one.
I looked at the icrc website, and saw nothing about this. Are any NGOs there to help provide for immediate needs? Can local chapters provide manpower or space? For longer term assistance, the communications can certainly help to move people, perhaps matching them with skills among the various locations. If all of those fleeing the strife congregate in one place, the social and political balances become strained, and you will see issues like the Budapest rail station played out again and again. Connections from city to city through the global chapters can surely help to spread folks and move them to a place they can begin again.
